About Us

Hillside is a family owned and operated boutique hotel nestled on a hillside of the Taupiri Ranges adjoining a 300 acre private native forest conservation reserve in the midst of the 2500 acre Hillside Station a working beef and sheep farm.

Hillside celebrates nature with classic design. Architecture inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and décor by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Original artwork by Meryl Graham

by the Minister of Tourism the Hon Mark Burton in the presence of the Maori Queen Dame Te Atairangikaahu

Good environmental management is integral to the company’s activities and Hillside Hotel wishes to lead by example in the field of sustainable nature tourism.

We recognise that the development and operation of Hillside Hotel has an impact upon the natural environment. Featured Wine

Mystery Creek wines is a progressive, niche producer.

The vines are nurtured in Horotiu sandy loam over free draining river shingle,planted on a gentle north facing slope.

Each Mills Reef wine is produced with superior Hawkes Bay grapes and hand crafted by the winemaking team in Tauranga, New Zealand.
